Nori Rat Cytokeratin-19 ELISA Kit
Price range: $508.00 through $916.00
This ELISA kit is for quantification of CK-19 in rat. This is a quick ELISA assay that reduces time to 50% compared to the conventional method, and the entire assay only takes 3 hours. This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique and uses biotin-streptavidin chemistry to improve the performance of the assays. An antibody specific for CK-19 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CK-19 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After washing away any unbound substances, a detection antibody specific for CK-19 is added to the wells. Following wash to remove any unbound antibody reagent, a detection reagent is added. After intensive wash a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CK-19 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped, and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background:
Cytokeratin-19 (CK-19) also known as type I cytoskeletal 19 or keratin-19 (K19), is a 40 kDa protein and is a member of the keratin family. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. The type I cytokeratins consist of acidic proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains. Unlike its related family members, this smallest known acidic cytokeratin is not paired with a basic cytokeratin in epithelial cells. It is specifically found in the periderm, the transiently superficial layer that envelops the developing epidermis. CK-19 is also known as Cyfra 21-1.[3] Due to its high sensitivity, CK-19 is the most used marker for detection of tumor cells disseminated in lymph nodes, peripheral blood, and bone marrow of breast cancer patients.[4] Moreover, Ck-19 is widely applied as post-operative diagnostic marker of papillary thyroid carcinoma. CK-19 is often used together with CK-8 and CK-18 to differentiate cells of epithelial origin from hematopoietic cells in tests that enumerate circulating tumor cells in blood.[5]
