Nori Bovine SFRP5 ELISA Kit

Price range: $508.00 through $916.00

This ELISA kit is for quantification of SFRP5 in bovine. This is a quick ELISA assay that reduces time to 50% compared to the conventional method, and the entire assay only takes 3 hours. This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique and uses biotin-streptavidin chemistry to improve the performance of the assays. An antibody specific for SFRP5 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SFRP5 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After washing away any unbound substances, a detection antibody specific for SFRP5 is added to the wells. Following wash to remove any unbound antibody reagent, a detection reagent is added. After intensive wash a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SFRP5 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped, and the intensity of the color is measured.

Alternative names for SFRP5: Secreted frizzled-related protein 5, Frizzled-related protein 1b, FRP-1b, Secreted apoptosis-related protein 3, SARP-3,

Background:

Secreted frizzled-related protein 5 (SFRP5) is a member of the SFRP family that contains a cysteine-rich domain homologous to the putative Wnt-binding site of Frizzled proteins.[1,2] SFRPs act as soluble modulators of Wnt signaling. SFRP5 and SFRP1 may be involved in determining the polarity of photoreceptor cells in the retina. SFRP5 is highly expressed in the retinal pigment epithelium, and moderately expressed in the pancreas.[2] Epigenetic inactivation of the Secreted frizzled-related protein-5 (SFRP5) gene in human breast cancer is associated with unfavorable prognosis.[4] SFRP5 is activated via interaction with its receptor.[5]
